The 360 Portage Ave building is the top 10 most sustainable building in the world! It’s not only beautiful on the outside, but it also packed with amazing functionalities and creative designs, such as optimized solar exposure that takes advantage of the sun’s passive warming effective on air as it rises through the south atria in the winter months and reduces thermal loss through the north side of the building; many waters feature — meant to emulate dams, fill the space with the sound flowing water and like the water feature in the atrium also has a functional purpose (humidification and dehumidification). It’s connected to downtown including the elevated walkway system, and provides street level retail activity, offering a landscaped public courtyard on its southern exposure. Manitoba Hydro is also one of the largest collectors of original artwork produced by Manitoba artists since 2008.
