Training Within Industry (TWI)

Canadian Manufacturers and Exporters
The Missing Link to LEAN

Description

In the Toyota Way Fieldbook, Jeffrey Liker and David Meier state, "The Toyota Method for training is tried and true, and they have used it (Training Within Industry-TWI) for over 50 years". Learn and experience the TWI method of training that was created in the US in the 1940's and why it is still used at Toyota to train people in the Toyota Production System to consistently produce the highest quality vehicles in the world.  An overview of Job Relations (JR), Job Instruction (JI) and Job Methods (JM) programs will demonstrate how this training contributes to the creation of a positive, collaborative work environment.  You will learn how operators can be trained to do a job safely, correctly and conscientiously in a quick time frame and why TWI has been the cornerstone for standardized work and continuous improvement at Toyota since 1951.
