ABOUT THE SPEAKER

James Simon is a leading coach, author, and speaker with over two decades of experience in performance improvement and mindfulness. His journey began early in athletics, igniting a passion for coaching, continuous improvement, process and the inner game. This foundation launched a career spanning industries from manufacturing to healthcare. Today, he drives transformative change at the University of Alberta Hospital and, in 2020, founded Headwaters to Change, where he integrates Kaizen philosophy with mindfulness techniques to support athletes, teams, business professionals, organizations, and individuals in their growth journey on a global scale. This included a life changing opportunity to support healthcare and non-profits in Rwanda and Kenya. 

James’s expertise is enriched by mentorship from senior leaders at Toyota and studies under George Mumford, the legendary performance coach behind NBA coach Phil Jackson’s iconic Chicago Bulls and LA Lakers.  

As the author of Headwaters to Change: Navigating Growth, Cultivating Presence, releasing in fall 2024, James guides clients to discover their purpose, master their inner game through mindfulness and meditation, harness the power of Kaizen for continuous improvement, and embrace the process every day to achieve self-mastery.
